ANNOUNCING three Preconference Workshops, to be held in Lusaka in the days immediately preceding the 18-22 July 2010 congress.
Funds have been made available
by the Johann Jacobs Foundation
to sponsor up to 60 qualified young scholars to attend these preconference workshops and the ISSBD conference.

Social Change and Human Development, Friday July 16- Saturday July 17, 2010; a two-day workhop led by Patricia Greenfield, University of California, Los Angeles, USA and Heidi Keller, University of Osnabrueck, Germany
This workshop will include lectures, breakout discussion groups, and the possibility of discussing interests in collaborative research.
Introduction to methodology and analyses of longitudinal data, Saturday July 17, 2010: a one-day workshop led by Marcel van Aken & Jaap Denissen
This workshop is intended to provide an introduction to new methods and analyses for longitudinal data. In addition to lectures with examples, and opportunities for questions, there will be time for small group discussions including presentations of workshop participant's research plans.
Developmental origins of aggression from an interdisciplinary and comparative perspective , Saturday July 17, 2010, led by Richard Tremblay & Steve Suomi
This workshop will use a developmental perspective to integrate the latest research findings from aggression research in all disciplines including non-human animal research. It will include lectures and discussions.
Procedure for Application (for enrolment in a pre-congress workshop and/or for sponsorship to attend the workshop and congress). Each candidate will apply via a specific application form, accessible as a downloadable attachment on this page of the congress website, which should be sent by email to Dr Anne Petersen acpkazoo@gmail.com .
The application will require submission of the applicant's curriculum vitae and an Abstract (symposium or poster) of research that has already been submitted (on line through the ASBSTRACT MANAGER of this website) as a proposed contribution to the congress. A letter of recommendation from a senior researcher familiar with the candidate's work (preferably an ISSBD member) will also be required.

The ISSBD Committee reviewing applications for travel grants will be considering the pre-December applications this coming week. We hope to provide feedback before the end of 2009. The December batch of applications will be considered in early January, and we hope to have final notices out well before the end of January.

Applications for Jacobs Foundation funding for majority world ("developing country") young scholar travel to participate in a preconference workshop (and ISSBD2010) closed December 31, 2009. Applications received from the date of this posting (January xx, 2010) will not be considered. Those applications submitted to Anne Petersen between the closure date and this posting date may be considered if there are any unobligated funds.

Other Fellowships:
Applications may still be submitted for young scholars from lusophone countries in Africa. We have funds available from the Gulbekian Foundation.

We expect to have funds from the National Science Foundation for US young scholars to participate in preconference workshops. We will accept applications for these funds until January 31, 2010.

We are yet seeking funding sources for young scholars from Australia, Europe, and other countries, and for more senior scholars from all countries to support participation in ISSBD2010. We regret that we have not yet identified funding sources but remain hopeful.
