Professor Leickness Simbayi (D.Phil., University of Sussex) is currently the Executive Director of the national research programme on Social Aspects of HIV and AIDS and Health in South Africa’s Human Sciences Research Council. His research interests are in the area of applied health psychology mainly on sexually transmitted infections especially on social and behavioural aspects of HIV/AIDS, African traditional healing, and stress and coping. He has held academic positions in Psychology at five different African universities. His research has been published in numerous international publications including the AIDS Care, Social Science and Medicine, and the Journal of AIDS.
