Jay Belsky is Director of the Institute for the Study of Children, Families and Social Issues at Birkbeck University of London. Prior to 1999, he was Distinguished Professor of Human Development at Penn State University, USA. His areas of expertise include effects of day care, parent-child relations during early childhood, transition to parenthood, etiology of child maltreatment and evolutionary basis of parent and child functioning. He is the author of many scientific articles and author/editor of several books, including The National Evaluation of Sure Start: Does Area-Based Early Intervention Work (2007). Dr. Belsky's research includes a focus upon fathers, marriages, and naturalistic home observations of family interaction patterns. |
